Irby Donates Supplies to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
Jackson, MS (March 22, 2010) - Stuart C. Irby, Co., a subsidiary of Sonepar USA,
showed its support to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition by donating electrical supplies to the home of Hattiesburg, Mississippi’s "hometown hero", Sherman Heathcock.
Sherman, a devoted husband and father re-enlisted in the Army National Guard following 9/11 and has served two tours of duty in Iraq where he leads squads in combat missions. When he is fortunate to spend time at home, Sherman works several jobs, which leaves little time to repair the devastating damage to their home left by Hurricane Katrina. Irby is proud to have been a part of this project to give back to this soldier who has given so much to his country and his community. The episode was filmed in Hattiesburg, MS and aired on March 21, 2010, on the ABC network.
The construction of Hattiesburg’s First NAHB Green Home proved to be a challenge
from the start. With a severe weather forecast that included torrential rainfall, sleet and snow, the crew of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, AAA Homes of MS, LLC and community volunteers worked tirelessly to complete the project on time. The many challenges were met and conquered and the Heathcock family got to hear the words "Move that Bus" on December 10, 2009. Finally able to breathe a sign of relief for her family, Gina Heathcock said, "We are so thankful for everyone in this community who came together to do this for us. This is not just a house to us. It’s a blessing to us! It’s going to change our lives. It’s giving our children back a father and it’s giving me back a husband. There are no words to express how we feel!"
"Irby is proud to have been a part of this project to give back to this soldier who has given so much for the freedom of our country," said Doug Walo, Vice President of Commercial /Contractor Sales.
Irby is honored to have been invited to participate in their second Extreme Makeover: Home Edition rebuild. The first occurred in 2008, when Irby helped to rebuild the Noah’s Ark Missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA.
Irby, headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi, operates 58 branches in 21 states and is one of the largest regional electrical distributors in the United States. Irby supplies customers in four major market segments – industrial, contractor, commercial and utility – with innovative electrical products and services.
